Prince Harry and Meghan Highlight Social Media Risks for Children

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, recently unveiled the Lost Screen Memorial in New York City—a temporary installation honoring children whose families believe harmful content on social media contributed to their deaths. The memorial is part of their Archewell Foundation’s efforts to raise awareness around online safety for children.

During the event, the couple emphasized the need for stronger protections and greater transparency from tech companies. They also support calls for parents to be granted access to their deceased children’s social media data, a move some firms have resisted on privacy grounds.

Separately, British families affected by similar tragedies held a protest outside Meta’s offices, and some have taken legal action against platforms like TikTok.

This conversation comes as UK regulator Ofcom announces new measures aimed at improving online safety for minors.
